This database contains building records for the years 1878, 1879, 1886, 1887, 1889, 1895, 1901-1905, 1907, 1908, and incomplete records from 1950, 1955, 1956, and 1957. Building records for the entire year were generally listed in the newspaper at the end of each year, or the beginning of the next year in early January.
The year 1908 marked one of the prosperous years in Ft. Collins as regards new buildings being erected. True there are years when more building has been done but considering the bad effects of the 1907 panic and the loss to the country through poor crops and low prices for fat stock, the year was a remarkably progressive one. The building industry was especially directed toward the construction of residences throughout the year and especially was there a noticeable activity along this line toward the close of the year. Building Inspector Bradley issued about 200 building permits during the year and over a hundred of these ran over $400.00 each. There were but few real large contracts.
